Compared to passenger hydraulic elevators, the AJAY VRC lift is far less costly and more practical for self-storage facilities. See for yourself, here are just some of the factual comparisons against the two types of lifts.
In order to install a passenger elevator for the storage industry expensive permits must be purchased, and lead times for processing with plan-check are exceptionally long.
AJAY's VRC Lifts carry cargo only, this dramatically decreases the danger and liability thus the permits required are dramatically less expensive than a passenger elevator permit.
It is nearly impossible to consider an installation of a passenger elevator after your building has been built.
Passenger elevators have expensive structural building requirements that must be supplied for stringent installation needs. Most passenger elevators require “load bearing” concrete structural supporting walls.
Passenger elevators usually require a deep pit (3 to 10 feet deep) in order to install buffer springs and other equipment at the bottom of the shaftway.
Passenger elevators require the installation of a large raised “penthouse” on the roof for routine service or maintenance issues, adding to the cost of the lift.
A deep hole must be excavated under the elevator car in order to install the cylinder. Some elevators must now also have an EPA approved sump pump recovery system, adding to the cost of the lift.
Passenger elevators require a minimum of 100 to 150 amp 3 phase electrical service.
